Early Life
Michael Scott Hyatt is an American author and entrepreneur. He graduated from Baylor University with a degree in philosophy and entered the publishing industry while still a student, beginning a career that would span more than three decades in books and media.
Career
Hyatt’s publishing career began at Word Publishing. In 1986 he co-founded the publishing company Wolgemuth & Hyatt, then worked as a literary agent before joining Thomas Nelson Publishers in 1998. He rose to become chairman and CEO of Thomas Nelson, then one of the largest Christian publishers in America, leading the company through its transition to private ownership. He began blogging about leadership and productivity in 2004, building one of the most widely read leadership blogs of its era. After leaving Thomas Nelson in 2011, he founded Michael Hyatt & Company, a leadership development firm later renamed Full Focus. His books include the New York Times bestseller Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World (2012) and the Wall Street Journal bestsellers Living Forward (2016), Your Best Year Ever (2018), Free to Focus (2019), and The Vision Driven Leader (2020).
