Michael A. Singer was born on May 6, 1947, in the United States. He earned a doctorate in economics from the University of Florida and was on a conventional academic track when, in the early 1970s, he had a profound inner experience that redirected his life toward spiritual inquiry. Career
Singer founded the Temple of the Universe, a yoga and meditation center in Alachua, Florida, where he has lived a contemplative community life for over forty years.
